Teralight Powers Israel’s Renewable Energy Future with a 150MW Solar Farm Launch
Teralight has officially received approval to commence commercial operations for its 150MW (dc) Ta’anach 1 solar project, a key milestone in the renewable energy sector of Israel. Located in the Ta’anach region, this solar farm not only signifies a leap towards a greener future but also underlines Teralight’s leadership in clean energy development.
Strategic Partnership in Ta’anach 1 Project
Teralight holds a 51% stake in the Ta’anach 1 solar project, showcasing its commitment and investment in sustainable energy. The remaining 49% is owned by Migdal Group, one of Israel’s largest financial institutions. This partnership highlights the growing collaboration between innovative developers and prominent investors to accelerate the country’s energy transition.
Expanding Horizons: Ta’anach 2 and Beyond
Building on the success of Ta’anach 1, Teralight is advancing its next venture, the Ta’anach 2 project. This project will boast a generation capacity of 104MW, coupled with an energy storage facility featuring a capacity of approximately 440MWh. Fully owned by Teralight, the Ta’anach 2 solar farm is projected to connect to the national grid by the latter half of 2026.
Together, the Ta’anach 1 and Ta’anach 2 projects represent a combined installed capacity of over 250MW. This accounts for around 5.2% of Israel’s renewable energy capacity and 1.2% of the country’s total electricity supply, underscoring the projects’ pivotal role in reshaping the energy landscape of Israel.
A Word from Teralight CEO Rani Lifshitz
Rani Lifshitz, CEO of Teralight, expressed pride in the company’s accomplishments, stating:
“The commercial operation of the Ta’anach 1 project marks a significant milestone for the company, solidifying Teralight’s role as a key player in Israel’s green electricity production and supply sector. The entire project advances Israel’s efforts to increase the use of clean, locally produced solar energy.”
He further elaborated on Teralight’s ambitious vision:
“Teralight is currently developing and constructing solar and storage projects with a combined capacity of approximately 400MW and storage capabilities of about 750MWh. These projects are expected to connect to the grid gradually over the next three years, further cementing Teralight’s leadership in renewable energy in Israel.”
The Maglan Project: A Renewable Energy Giant
In addition to the Ta’anach projects, Teralight is spearheading the development of the Maglan solar project, an even more ambitious endeavor. The Maglan project will feature a 340MW solar facility along with a state-of-the-art energy storage system boasting 1110MWh of capacity. Developed in collaboration with 13 communities in the Jordan Valley, the project exemplifies how renewable energy initiatives can foster community partnerships.
The Maglan project is slated for grid connection by 2027, adding significant capacity to Israel’s renewable energy infrastructure.
Pioneering the Future of Green Energy
The Ta’anach 1 and Ta’anach 2 projects, combined with the forthcoming Maglan project, reinforce Teralight’s vision for a sustainable future. With a strong focus on solar and energy storage solutions, Teralight is not only helping Israel meet its renewable energy targets but also establishing itself as a leader in the global energy transition.
